How does Google Web Search work+Search Tips

Google visits and reads public web pages. Google take a snapshot of each page Google visit. These snapshots are called cached copies. When you search, Google's automated program finds the pages that are most relevant to your search terms and shows those pages to you.

How do I use Google Web Search?

Using Google can be as easy as typing a word or phrase into the Google search box and clicking either the Google Search or I'm Feeling Lucky button (Pressing "I'm Feeling Lucky" button in Google search page takes you straight to the most relevant website that Google found for your query. You won't see the search results page at all, but if you did, the "I'm Feeling Lucky" site would be listed on top). To make the most of your Google search, here are a few tips for choosing search terms that will return the most relevant results. Click any of the tips to read more about them:

Use keywords to search: You'll find the most accurate results by typing words or short phrases - rather than full sentences and questions - into the search box.

Example: If your question is "Can I take my dog with me on my trip to London?" good search terms might be:

[ dog travel London ] [ dog airline London ] [ pet flying ]

Choose keywords carefully and enclose exact phrases in quotation marks: The best search terms are descriptive and specific. Enclosing a few or all of your keywords in quotation marks can help you locate webpages that contain an exact phrase, such as a person's full name, a book title, or song lyrics.

Example: If you're in need of a recipe for cake with a very specific type of frosting, you might perform the following search:

[ recipe cake "toasted coconut frosting" ]

EBay to cut 1,000 jobs, spend $1.3B on acquisitions

Online auctioneer eBay today announced plans to cut 1,000 jobs, while at the same time spending about $1.3 billion on three acquisitions: electronic payments business Bill Me Later and Danish Web sites dba.dk and bilbasen.dk.

Today's job reductions, amounting to 10 percent of eBay's work force, follow an earlier round of cuts amounting to 125 jobs in North America and Europe, including 70 at its headquarters in San Jose, CA.

Google Tips to get Best Search Results-2

5. Word variations (stemming)

Google now uses stemming technology. Thus, when appropriate, it will search not only for your search terms, but also for words that are similar to some or all of those terms. If you search for pet lemur dietary needs, Google will also search for pet lemur diet needs, and other related variations of your terms. Any variants of your terms that were searched for will be highlighted in the snippet of text accompanying each result.

6. Phrase searches:

Sometimes you'll only want results that include an exact phrase. In this case, simply put quotation marks around your search terms.

Phrase searches are particularly effective if you're searching for proper names ("George Washington"), specific information("George Washington was born in"), or other famous phrases ("This was their finest hour").

7.Negative terms:

Suppose you are searching for information about Stanford city. but when you search Stanford through google most result will include about Stanford university not about the city.you can focus your search by putting a minus sign ("-") in front of words related to the meaning you want to avoid. For example, here's how you'd find pages about Stanford city, but not Stanford university: stanford -university

Note: when you include a negative term in your search, be sure to include a space before the minus sign.

8.And finally... "I'm Feeling Lucky"

After you've entered your search terms, you might want to try the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button, which takes you straight to the most relevant website that Google found for your query. You won't see the search results page at all, but if you did, the "I'm Feeling Lucky" site would be listed on top.

For example, if you're looking for the Stanford University homepage, just enter Stanford and click "I'm Feeling Lucky" instead of the Google Search button. Google will take you directly to "www.stanford.edu."

What is Bluetooth and how it works

Bluetooth wireless technology is a short-range communications technology intended to replace the cables connecting portable and/or fixed devices while maintaining high levels of security. The key features of Bluetooth technology are robustness, low power, and low cost. The Bluetooth specification defines a uniform structure for a wide range of devices to connect and communicate with each other.

Bluetooth technology has achieved global acceptance such that any Bluetooth enabled device, almost everywhere in the world, can connect to other Bluetooth enabled devices in proximity. Bluetooth enabled electronic devices connect and communicate wirelessly through short-range, ad hoc networks known as piconets. Each device can simultaneously communicate with up to seven other devices within a single piconet. Each device can also belong to several piconets simultaneously. Piconets are established dynamically and automatically as Bluetooth enabled devices enter and leave radio proximity.

A fundamental Bluetooth wireless technology strength is the ability to simultaneously handle both data and voice transmissions. This enables users to enjoy variety of innovative solutions such as a hands-free headset for voice calls, printing and fax capabilities, and synchronizing PDA, laptop, and mobile phone applications to name a few.

Specification Make-Up: Unlike many other wireless standards, the Bluetooth wireless specification gives product developers both link layer and application layer definitions, which supports data and voice applications.

Spectrum: Bluetooth technology operates in the unlicensed industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band at 2.4 to 2.485 GHz, using a spread spectrum, frequency hopping, full-duplex signal at a nominal rate of 1600 hops/sec. The 2.4 GHz ISM band is available and unlicensed in most countries.

Interference: Bluetooth technology's adaptive frequency hopping (AFH) capability was designed to reduce interference between wireless technologies sharing the 2.4 GHz spectrum. AFH works within the spectrum to take advantage of the available frequency. This is done by detecting other devices in the spectrum and avoiding the frequencies they are using. This adaptive hopping allows for more efficient transmission within the spectrum, providing users with greater performance even if using other technologies along with Bluetooth technology. The signal hops among 79 frequencies at 1 MHz intervals to give a high degree of interference immunity.

Range: The operating range depends on the device class: Class 3 radios have a range of up to 1 meter or 3 feet Class 2 radios most commonly found in mobile devices – have a range of 10 meters or 33 feet Class 1 radios used primarily in industrial use cases – have a range of 100 meters or 300 feet Power: The most commonly used radio is Class 2 and uses 2.5 mW of power. Bluetooth technology is designed to have very low power consumption. This is reinforced in the specification by allowing radios to be powered down when inactive.

Data Rate: 1 Mbps for Version 1.2; Up to 3 Mbps supported for Version 2.0 + EDR
